Quick ways to become an opinion leader on Twitter

So you’ve been wondering how you can quickly become an online influencer, especially on Twitter? We featured what Paul, popularly known as @tweetoracle thinks below:

Social Media Influence is real power. It guarantees social proof which in this digital era is such a useful currency. The rise to prominence of Social media Influencers is simply due to the power of social media influence . Influencers are able to make money online advertising businesses and brands because of the robust followings they have consolidated with their followers and which gives them significant edge, it’s not surprising to note that a lot of individuals want a taste of that power. But like all things in life that is good, it never comes easy. There are lots strategies to be used, lots of rules you cannot circumvent but at the heart of it all you will come to the full realization of the power that comes with social media.

1. TWEET MEANINGFUL CONTENTS
As much as Twitter is a social media and as such primarily for fun engagement, you would notice that people who tweet useful and meaningful contents get their content shared much more rapidly. It could be motivational, humour, factual contents etc but as long as it adds REAL VALUE you will begin to take notice that you will start cultivating robust following.

2. MAKE MEANINGFUL USE OF HASHTAGS
Twitter actually viralizedthe use of Hashtags. It’s an effective way to start up conversations and create ripples all over the Twittersphere. If you really want to be popular then you have to be doing this regularly. If you are able to Trend often then that becomes a BIG plus for you because it means you are able to start up conversations and maintain the tempo with multitude of ideas and contributions. Participating in hashtags created by other people is also important. When you add meaningful tweets to your hashtags, it enhances your visibility and thus impacts on your followership.

3. ALWAYS FOLLOW BACK
You may dismiss this as UNimportant but the truth is that the more you follow people who follow you the more others are likely to follow you. It is just that simple. I mean i would NOT bother following someone with 300,000 followers but follows only 3 back even if their content is superb. Follow back is good practice which shows mutuality and reciprocity that interactions ought to be. So if you are doing it well then you will surely get there someday.

4. REMEMBER TO DO SOCIAL GOOD
What do I mean by Social good ? I mean doing something impactful online and doing it for free. There are lots of struggles in the nation that you can lend your ‘voice’ to. A good example was the case of Debby Idiagbonya who was diagnosed with stage 4 malignant cancer back in 2012.  There were a lot of people who took it upon themselves to raise the money needed for her treatment using Twitter as the platform of choice. Even though she passed on earlier this year, the massive awareness created on Twitter and the amount of money generated in donations only shows just how powerful doing social good can be. Doing social good helps your followers understand that you are not about money but also want and really do give back to the community.

5. USE QUESTIONNAIRES WISELY
It is now the worst kept secret on Twitter that an easy way to increase engagement is via questionnaires. Even though this has been thoroughly abused, it still works and as long as you ask meaningful questions you will get replies and trust me they will always be funny. Your account gets noticed easily and lots of mentions and followers on a consistent basis.
